Critical acclaim is not something either the Beach Boys or Jay Dee lack. Pet Sounds is often called the greatest album of all-time, and Dilla is the producer’s producer. Introducing the two and blending them together makes sense, but it also could also be offensively bad, like putting mustard on tuna. Luckily, the two combine in the illest way, putting spaced out grooves with blissed out harmony.
This is not actually a Beach Boys remix by Dilla himself. He never got weird with the gloriously kooky Brian Wilson, although that would have melted the minds of both rap nerds and rock purists.

So what is this exactly? It’s a reworking of Pet Sounds by a British YT named Bullion. Taking the Dilla from Donuts as an inspiration, Bullion chops the Beach Boys opus into itty-bitty slices and pieces them back together into something that’s remarkably unrecognizable. The familiar melodies are there, but they’ve never been wavier—even when Wilson was putting acid in his coffee.
